Hoyo de Manzanares is once again transforming into a cinematic set with the celebration of 'Un Pueblo de Película', an event honoring its rich history in European Westerns.

From May 19 to June 24, the municipality will host a diverse cultural and tourist program. The project aims to recover and share the town's cinematic legacy, offering accessible experiences that blend film, music, history, and the natural environment of the Sierra de Guadarrama.
The iconic sets of Golden City, which have witnessed countless national and international productions, will be the focal point of this initiative. 'Un Pueblo de Película' seeks to revive collective memory and position Hoyo de Manzanares as a leader in film tourism, as highlighted by the Director General of Tourism, Laura Martínez, who described the town's commitment as 'unique'.
The mayor, Victoria Barderas, emphasized the historical and economic significance of cinema for the municipality, recalling how film shoots boosted the local economy in the past and how it continues to be an economic driver for hospitality and commerce today. The program includes an exhibition on the cinematic legacy, guided tours of the Golden City sets, a Western-themed weekend ('Revive Golden City'), soundtrack concerts, and a gastronomic route with film-inspired tapas.
The exhibition 'Hoyo's Cinematic Legacy', in collaboration with Sastrería Cornejo and the Asociación HoyoCine, can be visited at the Centro de Cultura until May 31. Guided tours of Golden City will take place on May 23 and 30, and June 20, with free registration. The weekend of June 5-7 will feature 'Revive Golden City', with historical reenactments, family activities, and Wild West-inspired gastronomy, commemorating the 190th anniversary of the Battle of the Alamo.
The cultural agenda is rounded out by concerts from Coral Divertimento and the Municipal Music Band, a tribute to actor Jack Taylor with a screening of 'La tumba del pistolero', and the exhibition of the documentary 'The Magnificent Stranger'. The gastronomic offerings, under the slogan 'Enjoy film-inspired tapas and dishes', will be available at local eateries until the end of the event.
