The municipality of Hoyo de Manzanares, known for its rich cinematic history and the iconic Golden City sets, is reaching the final stage of its 'A Town of Film' program. The events, which began on May 19th, aim to keep alive the town's legacy as a European western hub and a backdrop for national and international productions.
On Sunday, June 21st, at 9:00 PM, the Plaza de Cervantes will be transformed into an open-air cinema. The Municipal Music Band will perform a free concert featuring emblematic film scores, bringing the magic of the seventh art to life through live music. The event is designed for enjoyment by all.
The closing event of this edition will be the documentary 'The Magnificent Stranger', to be screened on Wednesday, June 24th, at 10:00 PM, also in the Plaza de Cervantes. This production by EMB Documental, directed by Miguel Ángel Guerra and Iván Karras, revisits the cinematic past of Hoyo de Manzanares and the pivotal role of Golden City in European western cinema.
The documentary narrates the transformation of the town into a film set, highlighting the social impact and opportunities that arose. This closing event serves as a tribute to the municipality's cinematic identity, its landscapes turned film locations, and the individuals who shaped this history.
Furthermore, until June 24th, local hospitality businesses are participating with 'Film Tapas'. Various establishments are offering gastronomic creations inspired by cinema and the western genre, complementing the town's cultural and tourist offerings.
