Renovation and expansion works on the La Navata bridge in Galapagar began today, September 7th, with a municipal investment of 689,000 euros and an estimated execution period of six months.

The Galapagar City Council has initiated renovation and expansion works on the La Navata bridge, a key intervention to improve the municipality's accessibility and road safety. The project, with an investment of 689,000 euros and an estimated six-month execution period, aims to conclude in the spring of 2027.
Due to the nature of the work at this crucial connection point, significant traffic modifications have been implemented. Since Monday night into Tuesday, there has been a total road closure during nighttime hours (from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM) for road surface milling, allowing only bus passage. From 5:00 AM on Tuesday, one lane will remain permanently closed.
To balance the progress of the work with vehicle traffic, continuous protective barriers and a temporary traffic light system will be installed to regulate alternating passage. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, reduce speed, and pay close attention to temporary construction signage, as lane capacity will be reduced.
The works will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will focus on the right bank (towards GalapagarLa Navata), including the demolition of existing elements, utility channeling, and structural concreting. Subsequently, the same intervention will be replicated on the left bank. Upon completion, a final nighttime closure will occur for asphalt laying and urban furniture installation.
The La Navata bridge is classified as a Heritage Interest Asset (BIP), so the project fully respects its original appearance, aesthetics, and historical values. The widening of the sidewalks will ensure greater pedestrian safety, incorporating railings and modernizing basic infrastructure networks.
The Galapagar City Council thanks citizens in advance for their understanding and cooperation regarding the temporary inconveniences that may arise during this important intervention.
