This facility, now open to the public, addresses requests from residents who sought updated outdoor recreational areas for their pets. The transformation of the dog agility area is part of a municipal project that has declared 2026 as the “Year of the Parks”.
The intervention has allowed for the recovery of an area that had been disused for years due to its obsolete condition and deficiencies that compromised both its use and user safety. One of the most notable changes is the comprehensive improvement of the enclosure, now featuring a wooden fence reinforced with hunting mesh and secure access, ensuring a suitable environment for dogs to enjoy without risk of escape.
The new circuit includes 14 training elements, designed with high-resistance materials such as polyethylene and treated wood, complying with European standard UNE-EN 1176. These elements include walkways, tunnels, seesaws, and ramps, all aimed at enhancing physical exercise and mental stimulation for pets.
In addition to the circuit, the area has been equipped with specific furniture, including mixed fountains for people and dogs, waste bins with bag dispensers, and “ata-can” posts, thus contributing to the functionality of the space. To ensure safety during use, 10 cubic meters of river sand have been conditioned on the ground, which helps to cushion jumps and prevent injuries.
The opening of this dog agility park adds to other initiatives by the City Council to modernize the municipality's sports and recreational infrastructures. This year, projects such as the new multi-sport court in La Navata and a natural balance circuit in Colonia España have also been carried out.
