The Galapagar City Council has announced an investment of 689,000 euros for the renovation of the La Navata Bridge over the Guadarrama River, aiming to improve its safety and accessibility for pedestrians.

This intervention is highly significant as the La Navata Bridge is protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIP). It is listed in both the Geographical Catalog of Immovable Properties of the Historical Heritage of the Community of Madrid and the Architectural Heritage Catalog, under the category of Historical Infrastructures. This protection mandates that any improvements must be compatible with the preservation of its historical and aesthetic value.
The main objective of the project is the transversal widening of the bridge deck to provide wider and more accessible sidewalks, thereby significantly enhancing pedestrian safety. Additionally, new containment systems compliant with current regulations will be incorporated, and its functional performance will be optimized, all while maintaining an aesthetic respectful of the structure's original characteristics.

The City Council responds to a demand from residents and reinforces its commitment to improving mobility, road safety, and the conservation of local heritage.

The works, estimated to last six months, are expected to begin this summer, once the preliminary administrative procedures are completed. Signaling work is anticipated to start between July and August, with the deck widening works commencing in September. The goal is for the renovation to be finished by spring 2027.
