“"We know that any major transformation requires an effort from all residents and that, for a few months, there will be inconveniences. But we also know that these actions are necessary and will shape Galapagar for decades to come. We are talking about a historic investment that is not accidental, but the result of constant work and the ability to manage projects and secure funding for our municipality."

Galapagar will allocate nearly 3.5 million euros to an ambitious urban infrastructure investment aimed at transforming several of its key roads and public spaces in the coming months.
The town of Galapagar is undertaking one of the largest urban infrastructure investments in recent years. Through a joint effort between the Community of Madrid and the City Council, approximately 3.5 million euros will be mobilized to transform some of the municipality's main roads and public spaces. According to municipal sources, this initiative involves "a series of strategic actions that will improve accessibility, road safety, pedestrian mobility, energy efficiency, and the urban image of Galapagar".
These projects, the result of months of planning and coordination with the regional administration, are set to begin in the coming months. Among the most notable actions is the renovation of the Carretera de Guadarrama, specifically the section between the M-505 and Calle Pedriza. The works will encompass a comprehensive renewal of sidewalks, improvements to garden areas, the elimination of architectural barriers, and the creation of a more comfortable, accessible, and safe pedestrian route.
Additionally, the Carretera Galapagar-La Navata will be remodeled, covering the stretch between the Glorieta de las Víctimas del Terrorismo roundabout and Calle de las Luces. This intervention will involve renewing sidewalks, improving the road surface, incorporating new urban trees, reinforcing universal accessibility, and installing specific lighting at pedestrian crossings to enhance road safety.
Another significant project will be the transformation of the Avenida de los Voluntarios, one of the municipality's main urban arteries. The avenue will be modernized through the renovation of public lighting, improved energy efficiency of installations, and enhanced lighting along pedestrian routes, all aimed at improving the quality of the urban space.
Furthermore, the expansion of the Puente de La Navata over the Guadarrama River is scheduled to begin in September. This infrastructure, highly requested by residents, aims to improve pedestrian and cyclist connections between the urban center and the Cercanías train station, promoting safer, more accessible, and sustainable mobility.
The City Council has cautioned that the simultaneous execution of these works may cause temporary disruptions to traffic and the usual functioning of certain areas. Occasional street closures, provisional diversions, and access limitations will be necessary to ensure the safety of both workers and residents. The council requests understanding and cooperation during the construction period, emphasizing that the inconveniences will be temporary but will lead to "a transformation that will permanently improve mobility, safety, and the quality of public space".
