The Galapagar City Council has begun installing a new shade structure in the children's park on Avenida Víctimas del Terrorismo, one of the most frequented spaces in the municipality. The project, which addresses a public demand, aims to improve user comfort during the warmer months.

The project, with an investment exceeding 87,000 euros, has commenced with foundation work. The structure, featuring several tensioned textile canopies arranged in triangular sections, is expected to be operational by early July. This covering will provide shade over approximately 300 square meters of play and rest areas.
The canopies, made from PVC-coated polyester, are designed to withstand weather conditions and ensure high durability. For support, 12 tubular pillars anchored to concrete footings will be installed. Safety has been a key consideration in the design, ensuring the supports do not encroach on the safety zones of the playground equipment and facilitating rainwater runoff through a slight curvature.
This initiative responds to one of the most common requests from families, particularly during the summer when high temperatures limit the time spent enjoying outdoor spaces. The council highlighted that this improvement is part of a broader strategy for the progressive renovation of the municipality's children's areas.
The Galapagar City Council plans to extend these types of installations to other parks within the locality, prioritizing those with higher user traffic and less natural shade, with the goal of enhancing the experience for children.
