The Galapagar City Council has started imposing fines of up to 750 euros on pet owners who fail to collect their pets' waste in public areas, intensifying surveillance with patrols and drones.

This measure, announced by the Council, aims to curb uncivil behavior that detracts from the cleanliness and well-being of the municipality. To ensure compliance with the regulations, the Local Police has launched “significant sweeps” in the most problematic areas, combining foot patrols with advanced technology such as drones.
These operations are focused on locations where a high accumulation of excrement has been detected and where residents have voiced complaints through social media and the municipal application, eÁgora. The City Council has emphasized that the application of these sanctions is a reality, dispelling any rumors about the seriousness of the initiative.

"We have no choice but to enforce the regulations and show residents that being uncivil in Galapagar has consequences. We all want a clean and well-maintained town, and it is not fair that, due to the irresponsibility of a few, the rest of us have to see our streets in a state we do not want."

As an example of the effectiveness of these measures, the Council has publicized one of the complaints processed by the Local Police. A resident was caught on April 7 on Escorial Street, in front of Carlos Ruiz school, attempting to leave without collecting their dog's waste, resulting in a 750 euro fine.
