The Galapagar City Council has implemented a strict policy of 750 euro fines for dog owners who fail to collect their pets' waste, aiming to maintain cleanliness and order in the municipality's streets.

The measure, which the Galapagar City Council has confirmed is not a rumor, seeks to curb the uncivil behavior of some dog owners who leave public roads dirty. The Local Police are conducting intensive surveillance, both with foot patrols and with the support of drones, to ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
These actions are concentrated in the most affected areas of the municipality, where residents have reported a higher number of incidents. Citizen collaboration, through complaints and notices on social media or the eÁgora app, has been fundamental in identifying these areas. Constant surveillance has already resulted in the first sanctions.
A recent example occurred on April 7, when a resident was caught shortly before 10:00 PM on Escorial Street, in front of the Carlos Ruiz school. The individual was attempting to leave without collecting his dog's waste, but a police patrol intervened in time. As a result, this citizen will have to pay a fine of 750 euros.

"We have no choice but to enforce the regulations and show residents that uncivil behavior in Galapagar has consequences. We all want a clean and well-maintained town, and it is not fair that, due to the irresponsibility of a few, the rest of us have to see our streets in a state we do not want."
