Galapagar is preparing for its VI Book Fair on April 25th and 26th in the Plaza de la Constitución, introducing innovative literary booths that will transform the public space into a large sound book.

The program, part of the LibroMad festival of the Community of Madrid, aims to promote reading and connect citizens with great literary works. Cultural activities will begin days earlier at the Ricardo León Municipal Library, with proposals for all audiences.
The innovative literary booths will be available on Friday, April 24th, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, in the Plaza de la Constitución. Attendees can immerse themselves in literature by listening to texts from authors such as Federico García Lorca, Antonio Machado, Gloria Fuertes, and William Shakespeare, offering a unique experience through spoken word.
The Book Fair will open its doors on Saturday, April 25th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More than thirty authors will be present to sign copies and present their works. Librería El Faro, Radio Galapagar, and various local associations will also participate. On Saturday at 10:15 AM, a sensory improvisation workshop titled 'Cuerpos en escucha' (Bodies Listening), led by Seth Buckley, will be held for adults with prior registration. At 12:00 PM, attendees can enjoy a contemporary dance performance in the Plaza de la Constitución.
In the afternoon, traditional 'cabezudos' (big-heads) will liven up the festive atmosphere from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Additionally, at 6:30 PM, 'Esporas de malestar' (Spores of Unease), a work by local author Juan Antonio Román combining poetry, music, and imagery, will be presented.
On Sunday, April 26th, the fair will continue with a similar schedule, focusing mainly on the sale of second-hand books by associations such as En Galapagar no estás solo. In the morning, a family workshop on creating mini-books will be offered.
The Ricardo León Library will also host activities throughout the week, including the exhibition 'Esporas de malestar' by Juan Antonio Román, available until April 25th. On Thursday the 23rd, the book 'Una docena de historias' (A Dozen Stories) by Alfredo Fernández Alameda will be presented. On Friday, April 24th, the library will offer the storytelling session 'La biblioteca contigo (un libro gigante)' (The Library with You (a Giant Book)) for seniors at 11:00 AM, and the children's session 'Bebécuentos: ¡Y yo más!' (Baby Stories: And Me Too!) for children aged 0 to 3 at 5:00 PM, with mandatory prior registration. At 6:15 PM, the Plaza de la Constitución will host the family activity 'Cuentos con libros gigantes: El viaje de Bubú y Viaja, viaja' (Stories with Giant Books: Bubú's Journey and Travel, Travel).

"The literary booths stand out as an innovation that invites everyone to enjoy the pleasure of reading and listening to great literary works in a community setting."
