The Galapagar Town Council has released the official program for the XL Pilgrimage in honor of Our Lady of the Forsaken, which will take place from April 26 to May 30, featuring a wide array of religious and festive events.

Details of this celebration, marking its fortieth edition, are available on the municipal website and in physical format at the Town Council offices. Festivities will commence on Sunday, April 26, with a prayer meeting organized by the Brotherhood of Pilgrims at 7:00 PM in the Parish Church.
On the same day, the transfer of the Virgin from the El Cerrillo Hermitage to the Parish Church will begin at 8:00 AM. To facilitate participation, a bus service will be available from the Town Hall at 7:30 AM, and a walking departure from the Plaza de la Iglesia at 6:15 AM. The day will also include a Holy Mass at 10:00 AM.
Among the highlighted activities, May 1 will be dedicated to youth adoration in the Parish Church. From May 3 to 9, a septenary in honor of the Virgin will be held, with daily rosaries and masses. On May 4, at 7:00 PM, a funeral will be held in memory of deceased pilgrims.
Saturday, May 9, will be a key day with the Rosary of the Dawn at 9:00 AM, traversing several streets of the municipality. After another Holy Mass and the conclusion of the septenary, the pilgrimage's proclamation will take place, delivered by two local residents. During this event, medals will be blessed and bestowed upon new pilgrims, and drawing contest prizes will be awarded.
The main day of the Pilgrimage will be Sunday, May 10. The Virgin's departure from the Parish Church is scheduled for 10:45 AM, accompanied by jota dances and dulzaineros. Her arrival at the Hermitage is expected around 12:45 PM for a floral offering and a solemn mass. The day will include a tortilla contest, popular games, recitation of the Holy Rosary, a cake contest, and pétanque, concluding with a folk performance and a raffle at 7:00 PM.
Free buses will be offered from the Town Hall to the Hermitage throughout the day, and a parish bar will donate its proceeds to youth activities. The complementary program includes rosaries of the dawn on Saturdays in May and a ribbon race on the 15th. The XXII Castilian Folkloric Encounter is scheduled for the 23rd in the Plaza de la Constitución. Those interested in participating with carts and wagons must register by May 6.
