The decision aims to significantly transform the water and sanitation services within the municipality by addressing infrastructure modernization and maintenance optimization. Nearly 2 million euros will be allocated to urgent actions on the supply and sanitation network over the next two years.
This initiative will directly impact several urbanizations recently brought under municipal management. Areas such as El Guijo, Parquelagos, Dehesa Nueva, and Vistanevada will benefit from more professionalized network maintenance, enhancing response capabilities for breakdowns and enabling periodic checks to prevent future issues.
The new contract includes specific maintenance for water tanks and pumping stations in urbanizations like El Guijo and Quinta del Praderón, services not previously covered. Daily controls and regular technical inspections will be implemented to ensure optimal supply. Furthermore, the maintenance of wastewater pumping stations in areas like Dehesa Nueva and Vistanevada will be strengthened with preventive cleanings and prompt interventions to mitigate blockages and overflows.
A key measure will be the progressive replacement of old asbestos-cement pipes and the renovation of deteriorated sections. Advanced technologies will be incorporated for pipe rehabilitation without the need for disruptive trenching, minimizing inconvenience to residents. The proposal also allows for greater flexibility in carrying out works in urbanizations awaiting adaptation, facilitating investment execution throughout the contract via supplementary fees.
The contract update also incorporates a permanent 24-hour service for repairing domestic connections and fire hydrants. Additionally, comprehensive maintenance of sanitation networks will be integrated across all municipal buildings.
