This investment, totaling 154,000 euros, aims to enhance municipal security by improving the tools available to officers. The renovation includes new drone models such as the DJI Matrice 4T, DJI Mini 5 Pro, and DJI Neo, which will enable police forces to operate with a tiered aerial structure in various scenarios, from rapid interventions to complex operations in urban and even enclosed environments.
“"The incorporation of new aircraft for the Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit represents a strategic step towards modernization."
Mayor Mariola Vargas emphasized that this action reinforces the City Council's commitment to a security model based on advanced technology, operational intelligence, and immediate response. For her part, Security Councillor Yolanda Martínez highlighted the importance of this new equipment for the Local Police Force to perform its duties with maximum efficiency. The official presentation of the new resources took place at the Local Police building, located on San Fernando Street.
In addition to drones, a comprehensive renewal of the police force's weaponry has been carried out. The old weapons, more than 20 years old, have been replaced by a hundred Glock 45 pistols, chosen for their reliability and ergonomics. The officers' holsters have also been updated with the Safariland 7360 ALS/SLS model, which offers three levels of anti-theft security.
Regarding non-lethal tools, three new electronic devices have been acquired: the táser 10. These instruments allow for multiple sequential shots at a safe distance, thereby improving both precision and operational capability in potentially dangerous situations. Unlike the táser 7, which had a limited range of seven meters and two cartridges, the táser 10 can fire up to ten individual probes at nearly 14 meters, providing greater capacity to neutralize threats and minimize physical risks.
