The Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada water park will open its doors this Saturday, six days earlier than originally planned. This decision aims to provide a water leisure alternative amid the high temperatures currently characterizing the Community of Madrid.
The park boasts 2,000 square meters of white sand beach, a wave pool, and over 15 water attractions designed for all ages. The children's area features six attractions specifically adapted for younger visitors, including scaled-down versions of emblematic rides like Waikiki, Zigzag, Pistas Blandas, Turbolance, and Río Rápido, alongside Tiki Island, a space with water jets for family enjoyment.
For teenagers and young adults, the park offers more intense attractions such as Kangaroa, featuring six slides from which visitors descend on mats from a height of over ten meters. Joining this offering this season is Kilauea, the park's new flagship attraction.
In recent years, Aquopolis has also enhanced its gastronomic and service offerings, including shaded picnic areas and spaces designed to improve visitor comfort, with options like direct-to-hammock food service, VIP areas, and Balinese beds.
Although the water park opens this Saturday, the new Kilauea attraction will not debut until June 12. Aquopolis presents it as the most innovative attraction in its history and a unique offering in Europe.
Kilauea will span nearly 180 meters in length, reach speeds of 35 kilometers per hour, and ascend to seven meters in height. The attraction will incorporate multiple visual effects and four acceleration moments that blend speed, adrenaline, and aquatic sensations.
Its primary differentiating element will be an initial 30-meter launch straight using propelled water, providing a unique start within the European water park landscape. This water propulsion system marks a milestone in the design of such attractions on the continent.
The narrative of Kilauea is inspired by the legend of two warring goddesses, the goddess of power and the goddess of water, based on the myth of the Kilauea volcano. The initial launch represents volcanic force, while the rest of the ride evokes the essence and fluidity of water.
The new attraction will be located in Mana Nui, an area that integrates Kilauea with new relaxation and rest zones. This space aims to enhance the visitor experience and reinforce Aquopolis Villanueva de la Cañada's commitment to modern, comfortable, and sustainable leisure.
The creation of Mana Nui has involved an expansion of 4,682 square meters, adding to the original 15,000-plus square meters of the water park's existing grounds.
