The Tres Cantos City Council has announced an investment of over 21 million euros in sports facilities, aiming to modernize and expand the municipal offer before 2027, including new football fields, swimming pools, and a climbing wall.

The plan, presented by Mayor Jesús Moreno alongside councilors Javier Juárez and Eduardo Lorca at the Jaime Mata football field, envisions a significant transformation of the local sports infrastructure. This initiative seeks to position Tres Cantos as a benchmark in sports practice, offering a wide range of disciplines for its citizens.
Among the most notable improvements is the renovation of the Jaime Mata football field's turf, which will feature a plastic-filler-free artificial grass, anticipating European sustainability regulations set for 2030. This renovation will also include the installation of LED lighting to optimize night matches and improve energy efficiency.
Paddle and tennis facilities will also receive significant upgrades. At the Polideportivo de La Luz, the paddle courts already boast renovated artificial turf, and an air conditioning system update is planned. The three tennis courts at Embarcaciones will be equipped with state-of-the-art materials.

"The objective is to provide facilities with the highest safety conditions for both students and teaching staff."

Javier Juárez · Councilor
The plan also extends to educational centers, with improvements to the sports areas of public schools Ciudad de Columbia, Tierno Galván, and Miguel de Cervantes. The latter will also feature new portable stands, aiming to ensure the safety and well-being of students and teachers.
As a new addition, the municipality's first outdoor climbing wall will be built near the Polideportivo de La Luz, along with a covered municipal paddle tennis pavilion. Furthermore, a fifth football field, the fourth for 11-a-side football, will be added to alleviate demand on existing facilities. The Metropolitan Park area will host a free-access outdoor sports zone, featuring a skate park, multi-sport courts, beach volleyball, and calisthenics areas.
The largest project within the plan is the Paraninfo Sports Center, which will be part of Parque Paraninfo. This complex, described as the largest endowment center in Spain with over 135,000 square meters, will include a gym, a summer pool, and the highly anticipated third indoor pool for the municipality.

"To continue making Tres Cantos the city of sport, now more than ever and with an eye on the future."

Eduardo Lorca · Sports Councilor
