This ambitious plan, unveiled at the Jaime Mata football field, positions Tres Cantos in a significant transformation phase of its sports network. The strategy combines actions focused on modernization, innovation, sustainability, and functionality, aiming to meet the growing demand for physical activity and anticipate future community needs.
Key new developments include the Paraninfo Sports Center, located in Paraninfo Park. This complex will feature a third indoor swimming pool, an additional summer pool, and a large-capacity gym. Furthermore, construction is progressing on the Parque Norte Sports Complex, which will include pedestrian walkways connecting to the Ciudad de los Niños, within the Metropolitan Park area.
The project also incorporates new outdoor sports areas in Metropolitan Park, offering spaces for various disciplines such as a skate-park, multi-sport courts, beach volleyball, and calisthenics. These initiatives are complemented by an outdoor climbing wall at the La Luz Sports Center, a municipal covered paddle tennis pavilion, and a new football field to expand the existing network.
Regarding improvements to current facilities, the Jaime Mata football field will feature a filler-free artificial turf system, complying with European sustainability regulations. The La Luz Sports Center has already renovated the turf on its paddle tennis courts. Additionally, lighting and climate control upgrades are planned, with LED lighting for the Jaime Mata stadium and an updated thermal system for the sports center. The tennis courts at Embarcaciones will also be renovated with state-of-the-art materials.
The plan includes interventions in sports facilities at public schools such as Ciudad de Columbia, Tierno Galván, and Miguel de Cervantes. At the latter, new portable bleachers will be installed to enhance safety and space utilization. The City Council frames these actions within a strategy to consolidate sports as a structural element of the city, aiming to maintain Tres Cantos as a sports benchmark and promote values such as coexistence, inclusion, and quality of life.
