The Tres Cantos City Council has opened the registration period for its annual program of workshops, health, culture, and technology, designed to energize the daily lives of its senior citizens.

The Department for the Elderly in Tres Cantos has presented the activity program for the 2026-2027 academic year, aiming to promote the well-being and social participation of older adults. The initiative seeks to offer personalized options that encourage an active and healthy daily life, building on the success of previous calls.
The offering is organized into five thematic areas. Physical exercise and postural correction include Pilates, Zumba, aquagym, dance, and adapted mobility. Mental and cognitive health is addressed with weekly groups for memory exercises and mind stimulation. Furthermore, artistic and musical expression is enhanced with classes in ballroom dancing, sevillanas, guitar, and percussion, fostering socialization.
To combat the digital divide, workshops on computing and handling mobile phones and tablets will be offered, equipping students with the autonomy for daily tasks, communication, and internet safety. Sonia del Amo, the Councilor for the Elderly, highlights the importance of these training sessions in reducing the gap in new technology use between generations.
A team of 35 volunteers will provide alternative workshops on culture, art, and nature. The schedule also includes excursions, cultural trips, social gatherings, and intergenerational activities to connect seniors and young people. Free legal advice and guidance services will also be available.
Municipal officials emphasize that the activity guide is a strategy to prevent isolation. Sonia del Amo states that the proposals aim to combat unwanted loneliness, dedicating financial and human resources to this issue. The mayor, Jesús Moreno, assures that the guide reflects the municipal government's commitment to building a more inclusive Tres Cantos, dedicated to the well-being of all residents.
The registration period opened on June 1st and closes on June 19th. Admission lists will be published on September 1st. Applications can be submitted digitally through the municipal electronic headquarters, in person at the City Council Registry, or at the Antonio Somalo Bernal Municipal Center for the Elderly.
