The ‘Abierto por Vacaciones’ (Open for Holidays) campaign in Tres Cantos aims to optimize the summer for improvements in municipal sports facilities. The goal is to balance construction work with regular sports activities, taking advantage of the lower user numbers.
The indoor swimming pools at the Centro Deportivo Islas and the Polideportivo Gabriel Parellada will undergo staggered closures. The Islas pool will be closed for maintenance from July 15 to August 15, while the Gabriel Parellada pool will close for the entire month of August. Subsequently, the Islas pool will reopen, ensuring that at least one indoor facility is always available to residents.
For the second consecutive year, the Polideportivo Gabriel Parellada will keep its football field, gym, and athletics track open during August, with reduced hours from Monday to Saturday. Additionally, the changing room sauna will be replaced with new equipment, involving an investment of 12,279.20 euros.
Significant improvements have already been completed, such as the renovation of the lighting at the Jaime Mata football field, costing nearly 100,000 euros. Soon, the artificial turf of this same field will be replaced, with a budget of 444,997.51 euros, aiming to enhance player safety and game performance.
Tennis courts 4, 5, and 6 at the Embarcaciones club are also being renovated, with an investment of 118,506.46 euros, as part of the plan to modernize the most used sports infrastructures.
Regarding new projects, the Complejo Deportivo Parque Norte is close to opening, and the construction of the future Pabellón de Pádel Indoor has passed the 50% completion mark, with an investment nearing 2,400,000 euros. These projects address the growing demand for sports facilities in the municipality.
Future sports planning includes new outdoor areas in Metropolitan Park and the Centro Deportivo Paraninfo. The latter will feature a third indoor pool, a summer pool, a large-sized gym, and a new 11-a-side football pitch, designed for a continuously growing city.
The Councilor for Sports, Eduardo Lorca, explained that these actions are part of a strategic plan to maintain facilities and ensure the continuity of sports activities, investing in modern and efficient equipment.
The Mayor, Jesús Moreno, emphasized that these investments improve the quality of life and reinforce Tres Cantos' sporting identity, ensuring top-tier facilities for a growing population. He highlighted the City Council's commitment to continuous improvement, even during the summer.
