The Casa Consistorial (City Hall) in Tres Cantos will be bathed in cyan blue light on the night of May 20th as a symbolic gesture of support for patients living with Behçet's Disease. This initiative is part of the national 'Somos Capaces' campaign, promoted by the Spanish Association of Behçet's Disease.
The primary goal of this action is to enhance public awareness of this autoimmune, chronic, and often invisible disease, which can affect various organs and significantly impact the quality of life for those who suffer from it.
The 'Somos Capaces' campaign also emphasizes the importance of promoting research, early diagnosis, and dissemination of information to improve healthcare and support for affected individuals and their families.
According to data from the Spanish Society of Rheumatology, Behçet's Disease affects approximately 2,300 people in Spain, with an estimated prevalence of 5 to 10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
