The Tres Cantos City Council has announced significant improvements for the Antonio Somalo Municipal Senior Center, including an expansion of over 2,000 m² and the addition of a second psychologist, responding to the demands of its nearly 7,000 members.

During the annual assembly of the Antonio Somalo Municipal Senior Center, held in Tres Cantos, the municipal leadership presented an action plan addressing the main needs expressed by users. Among the most notable measures is the start of expansion works on the building, which will add over 2,000 square meters to its current facilities.
The center, which has nearly 7,000 members and a waiting list of over 1,700 people for its activities, has become a benchmark in the region. The current offering includes more than 40 activities and 111 weekly classes, ranging from regular workshops to psycho-stimulation programs and care for people with reduced mobility.

"This commitment translates into concrete actions to improve the quality of life of our seniors, combat unwanted loneliness, and ensure active and healthy aging."

In addition to the physical expansion, service improvements will be implemented. Starting in September, the center will open earlier at 9 AM. A second psychologist with a therapeutic profile will be incorporated to meet the growing demand for mental health care among users, and the budget for trips, a key activity to combat unwanted loneliness, will be doubled.
In the technological sphere, the City Council aims to optimize activity registration systems through telematic tools, while always maintaining in-person support for those who need it. A home meal delivery service will also be launched, and the program of free activities during non-school periods will be expanded, ensuring options for seniors during school holidays.
A satisfaction survey among over 300 users revealed a very positive evaluation of the services, with scores of 9 out of 10 for physiotherapy and physical and cognitive activities, and 8 out of 10 for podiatry, hairdressing, and the overall assessment of the center's role in improving quality of life.
