Tres Cantos is currently undertaking a comprehensive improvement and maintenance plan for its dog parks during the summer months. The primary goal is to ensure these spaces remain in optimal condition for owners and their pets, with works carried out during a period of lower usage to minimize disruption.
The interventions include updating signage, inspecting urban furniture, enhancing public lighting, and checking perimeter fencing. Additionally, pruning, sand conditioning, and other general conservation tasks are being performed. A notable new feature is the installation of new dog fountains, addressing a frequent request from users.
Particular attention has been given to the dog area in Parque Central, the most frequented in the municipality. This space now features new picnic tables and umbrellas, aiming to provide a more comfortable experience for dog owners. These upgrades follow last year's improvements, such as a double access gate for enhanced security and a separation fence between the recreational zone and the agility circuit.
In the dog area of Parque de las Siete Leguas, branches that have grown over the past year and could pose a risk are scheduled for pruning, along with a review of furniture and shade-providing elements. The Council emphasizes the need for continuous improvement of these facilities due to their increasing use and is considering expanding the existing network to other parts of the municipality.
The Council reminds residents of the summer hours for dog recreation: dogs, excluding those deemed potentially dangerous, can be off-leash between 10:00 PM and 10:00 AM in designated areas, always under supervision. This schedule applies to various locations including Parque Antonio López, the park between numbers 8, 25, and 31 in Sector Pueblos, parks in the Foresta, Islas, and Embarcaciones sectors, and the semi-forested area of Parque Central (with exceptions for sections of the bike path).
Furthermore, dogs are permitted without time restrictions in the recreation areas of the Norte, Sur, and Este parks, the two enclosed areas within Parque Central (near Calle Enebro and behind the Centro Deportivo Gabriel Parellada), and the agility areas of Parque Central and Parque de las Siete Leguas.
