The jury's decision, announced on July 15th, highlights Tres Cantos' model for promoting sports, valuing both its diverse sports offerings and its investment in facilities. This award underscores the municipality's consistent effort to integrate sports into the daily lives of its residents, from municipal schools to organized competitions.
The sports promotion category recognizes the sustained efforts of entities that champion sports as a tool for citizen well-being. In previous editions, municipalities like Aranjuez have also been distinguished for their approach to sports as a means for health, social cohesion, and territorial revitalization.
This edition of the Seven Stars of Sport Awards has combined the 2024 and 2025 calls, recognizing prominent figures in the national sports scene. Awardees include MotoGP riders Marc and Álex Márquez (best male athletes 2025), former basketball player Sergio Rodríguez (best male athlete 2024), race walker María Pérez (best female athlete 2024), and athlete Blanca Hervás (best female athlete 2026).
The awards also honor work in grassroots and club sports. The Real Canoe Natación Club was recognized as the best sports entity in 2024, and Club Voleibol Leganés in 2025. In the promising talent category, footballer Vicky López (2024) and tennis player Rafael Jódar (2025) received accolades. Private initiatives such as JOMA and MADCUP were also recognized for their contributions to promoting high-level athletics and personal growth through sports.
The Unoentrecienmil Foundation and the UAX Rafa Nadal University School received awards in the Values category for their support of research against childhood leukemia and the training of sports sector professionals, respectively.
In the Sportsmanship section, El Tío de la Barba was recognized for its 'Bicicletas por la DANA' initiative, and Antonio Guerrero, former Deputy Director General of Sports Management for the Community of Madrid. Inclusive sports were highlighted with the Asociación Deportiva FEDDIG2008 and the Club de Natación Pozuelo, promoting integration through adapted and shared sports.
