The municipality of San Sebastián de los Reyes will be the first to host the 'Plan Vive Sanitario' (Live Healthcare Plan), a project promoted by the Community of Madrid aimed at facilitating access to affordable rental housing for public health system professionals. The initiative includes the construction of approximately 1,000 homes, with a significant portion reserved for healthcare workers under 35 years old, addressing the need to improve housing access and ensure healthcare coverage.

The announcement was made by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, as part of the Housing Shock Plan. This measure is designed to attract and retain medical talent by offering residential conditions close to hospital centers.

Within the 'Plan Vive Sanitario', around 120 homes will be allocated to public health system professionals under 35 years old. These residences will be strategically located near hospitals to minimize travel times and promote job stability for this group, who often face difficulties accessing the open real estate market in high-demand areas.

The regional government believes that access to affordable housing will positively influence healthcare professionals' decisions when choosing their work destination, thereby contributing to improved staffing levels and continuity of care in the region. This plan is expected to help consolidate teams in hospitals and health centers, directly impacting the quality of healthcare services.

The choice of San Sebastián de los Reyes as the starting point is due to its proximity to key healthcare infrastructure, such as the Infanta Sofía Hospital. The local mayor, Lucía S. Fernández Alonso, has highlighted that this measure could attract qualified professionals to the municipality, facilitating their decision to build their careers in the area thanks to more accessible residential conditions.
