The municipal offering aims to promote active participation among this demographic through educational, cultural, technological, and well-being initiatives. The activities are set to commence in October.
The program encompasses cognitive stimulation and physical activity, alongside workshops in crafts, singing, dancing, storytelling, and creative writing, aiming to provide spaces for interaction and learning tailored to diverse interests.
New technologies will play a significant role, with courses in computing, the internet, and mobile phone usage, seeking to facilitate the digital integration of seniors into their daily lives.
Complementing the educational and cultural offerings, social programs such as the 'From Equal to Equal' Volunteer Program and companionship activities for those experiencing loneliness will be developed. The centers will also maintain regular services like the library, board game lending, and weekend dancing.
These initiatives will take place at the Gloria Fuertes and Manuel Mateo López Municipal Senior Centers, which will serve as the main hubs for the program's development throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
