San Sebastián de los Reyes is preparing for the second edition of its charity race against cancer on May 10, a key event for raising funds dedicated to oncological research and patient support.

The initiative, promoted by the Oncology Service of the Infanta Sofía University Hospital and the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation, in collaboration with the Henares University Hospital, seeks to foster research and the well-being of those affected by this disease.
The event will take place in La Marina Park, the starting point for various sports activities. Funds raised through registrations will be entirely allocated to cancer research projects, reinforcing the commitment to science and health.
The program includes modalities for all audiences, starting at 9:00 AM with 5 and 10-kilometer races from the park's fairgrounds. Subsequently, at 11:00 AM, a 2-kilometer popular walk will be held, designed for broader and family participation.
Beyond funding oncological studies, the race will contribute to the development of the Oncological Sports Prescription Program. This project, a result of collaboration between the hospital and the City Council, integrates physical activity as an essential part of treatment and improving patients' quality of life. Additionally, the initiative supports research by the IALIBIRD consortium, which explores the connection between lifestyle and cancer.
Participants can collect their race bibs and runner's pack, which includes a t-shirt, on May 8 and 9. Collection will take place at Decathlon facilities, in the running section, continuously from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. This event is established as a solidarity proposal that combines sport and support for health research, open to the local community and all runners.
