The neighborhood entity aims to determine the necessary improvement measures for classrooms, playgrounds, and school spaces to cope with the recorded excessive temperatures. The request follows complaints, such as one from the dining hall of CEIP Héroes del Dos de Mayo, where temperatures reached nearly 33 degrees Celsius.
Daniel Borona, the association's president, explained that the proposal includes an individualized analysis of each center, covering nursery schools, primary schools, and high schools. The study would examine classrooms, dining halls, gyms, and libraries to identify specific needs and propose actions.
The report should assess the feasibility of installing air conditioning systems, as well as other complementary alternatives. These include thermal insulation, ventilation, shading systems like awnings and pergolas, and increasing green areas to reduce temperature and improve student well-being.
A specific evaluation of playgrounds and outdoor spaces is considered a priority, analyzing shade availability, direct sun exposure, and ultraviolet radiation incidence. The goal is to establish protection measures for students during breaks and outdoor activities.
The association demands that the document include technical conclusions and recommendations for each center, and that its content be shared with AMPAs (Parents' Associations) and educational community representative bodies to ensure transparency regarding the conditions of the spaces where minors study.
