The local party maintains that the approved economic document does not reflect a city model that responds to the current needs of citizens. According to the presented data, the allocation for the Festivities department increases by 675,000 euros, reaching 3 million euros, a figure that contrasts with the lack of improvements or cuts in other areas.
Izquierda Independiente denounces a reduction of more than 5 million euros in investments for neighborhood improvements, as well as a decrease of over 70% in the budget of the Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV). Furthermore, they point out an allocation of only 9,100 euros for disability-related policies.
“"When we talk about the budget, we also vote on the city project we want: a cleaner municipality, with affordable housing, quality schools, and adequate public services."
The party's spokesperson and councillor, Juan Torres, emphasized during the debate that spending on festivities exceeds the combined amount allocated to housing, education, care for the elderly, and healthcare. This budgetary distribution, in his opinion, demonstrates a strategy focused on festive activities to the detriment of services considered essential.
The budget was approved with the support of councillors from Vox, a situation that Izquierda Independiente questions, considering it conditions the final outcome of the document. Torres recalled that the 2024 municipal accounts had the backing of the Partido Socialista, a different scenario from the current one.
The party has announced that it will continue to present proposals to improve living conditions in San Sebastián de los Reyes, prioritizing access to affordable housing, urban cleanliness, strengthening public services, and attention to various population groups.
