The Council of Ministers has approved the tender for the new Cercanías (commuter rail) station in Tres Cantos North, a vital infrastructure project that will integrate into line C-4b and serve approximately 10,000 daily journeys.

This new stop, part of the Madrid Commuter Rail Plan, will be strategically located between the existing stations of Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo. The projected investment for its construction amounts to 19.35 million euros, excluding VAT, and aims to address the significant demographic and economic growth in the northern area of the municipality.
The infrastructure is designed to support the development of key areas such as Madrid Content City, a university campus, and a hospital, with projections indicating that the number of daily users could double in the future. The primary objective is to strengthen public rail transport offerings and improve connectivity with the rest of the Cercanías network.
The station will feature a modern and functional passenger building, along with two side platforms, each 220 meters long and 5.5 meters wide, partially covered by canopies. A fully accessible, multi-level connecting passage will link both platforms, while the space beneath will house the technical facilities necessary for railway operations.
The main building will include an open-plan concourse, restrooms, staff areas, access turnstiles, self-service machines, and a cafeteria with a terrace. Its stepped roof, with three different heights, will not only facilitate its integration into the plot but also allow natural light entry and protect passengers in the access plaza. The design optimizes user routes, adapting to the elevated position of the tracks relative to the urban environment and the access flows from the plaza.
The tender contract also includes the adaptation of the existing railway infrastructure and the installation of essential electrification, control, command, and signaling systems for the new stop's operation. Additionally, the access area will undergo urbanization to enhance the station's integration into the urban fabric of Tres Cantos.
