The Alcobendas Government has faced criticism from the opposition regarding the poor condition of municipal sports facilities, prioritizing promotional titles over maintenance investment.

The local Government's management in Alcobendas has sparked controversy due to the state of its sports infrastructure. While resources have been allocated to promote the title “European City of Sport,” several facilities show significant deterioration and lack proper maintenance.
Among the deficiencies highlighted are the Óscar Molina football field, with a deplorable playing surface and stands, and no hot water in the changing rooms. The Antela Parada Municipal Pavilion suffers from deteriorated basketball hoops and poor flooring, while the Nepal-Ignacio Echeverría Skatepark shows track deterioration and dangerous slides.
Other affected facilities include the recreational slides at the José Caballero swimming pools, which could not be used normally last year, and the Valdelasfuentes indoor football courts, which are in great disrepair. The abandonment of Parque de las Cepas, the poor state of conservation of the Parque Azalea sports area, and potholes in the Velodrome are also mentioned.

"These incidents demonstrate that we are not facing isolated issues, but a complete lack of planning and execution of investments."

The Parque Castilla-La Mancha football field also has a very poor playing surface. In the gyms of the José Caballero and Valdelasfuentes sports centers, recently renovated machines are already malfunctioning, compounded by overcrowding and endless queues. The changing rooms at the Mario Suárez football field are in poor condition.
Furthermore, frequent power outages have been reported at the Fuentelucha football field, the Valdelasfuentes Sports City, and the José Caballero Sports Center, preventing sports activities. The rugby and American football field at the José Caballero Sports Center is in ruins, with no solutions offered by the local Government.
