The cultural and leisure agenda for Colmenar Viejo this weekend includes a varied program. Highlights include commemorative events for the 25th Anniversary of the Canonical Coronation of the Virgen de los Remedios, a night walk through the Dehesa de Navalvillar, a boxing and muay thai evening, exhibitions in the municipal libraries, and the opening of the Summer Municipal Pool.
The central event for the Virgen de los Remedios commemoration will take place on Sunday at 11:30 AM. The image will be received in the Plaza del Pueblo, followed by a procession to the Basilica and a Solemn Mass presided over by the auxiliary bishop of Madrid, Vicente Martín Muñoz, with the Choir of Colmenar Viejo. The Symphonic Band will premiere a processional march composed by its director, Francisco Juan Rodríguez, and commemorative wristbands will be distributed.
This Friday, the activity "Los susurros de la Dehesa" (Whispers of the Dehesa) will take place, a night walk of approximately seven kilometers through the Dehesa de Navalvillar. The departure is scheduled for 9:00 PM, inviting participants to enjoy the natural environment by moonlight, paying attention to the silence, natural lighting, sounds, and stargazing.
The Summer Municipal Pool will be open throughout the weekend from 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased at the facilities or through the municipal website. The complex also offers a 'bibliopiscina' service, with book lending and reading animation activities for users.
On Saturday, the Plaza de Toros La Corredera will host a boxing and muay thai event organized by the Club de Boxeo y Muay Thai Ramos Savín and the Department of Sports. The event will feature professional and amateur bouts in both disciplines, starting at 8:00 PM after doors open at 7:00 PM.
Municipal libraries will offer illustration workshops titled "Manga and Comic: Invent a Story" for children aged 6 to 12. Additionally, throughout June, exhibitions "North American Literature" and "Libraries Recommend: Books for... Nothing?" will be available.
Until June 29th, the Centro Cultural Pablo Picasso hosts the exhibition "Entornos" (Environments), featuring a hundred works by students from the artistic activities of the Centro Cultural Pablo Neruda, including oil painting, watercolor, ceramics, furniture restoration, crafts, and epoxy resin. Until June 30th, the Sala Javier Villán displays the exhibition from the Old Photography Contest of Colmenar Viejo, dedicated to preserving the municipality's historical memory.
