Colmenar Viejo Buzzes with Activity This Weekend

The Madrid municipality inaugurates its swimming pool, hosts the Summer Break party, the Antonio Albacete Memorial, and the Seafood Fair's closing weekend.

This weekend, Colmenar Viejo offers a diverse leisure agenda including the opening of its municipal swimming pool, the 'Summer Break' youth party, the tenth edition of the Antonio Albacete Memorial, and the closing of the Seafood Fair.

The summer season officially kicks off this Friday with the inauguration of the Municipal Summer Pool, located on Avenida de Los Remedios. The facilities will be open daily until September 12th, with varying hours throughout the season. Admission prices are €2.50 for adults and €1 for children on weekdays, increasing to €3.50 and €2 respectively on Saturdays and holidays. Season passes and ten-visit passes are available, along with various discounts for seniors, large families, individuals with disabilities, and holders of the Municipal Sports Card. 70% of tickets can be purchased online to streamline access.
To celebrate the end of exams, the ‘Las Huertas’ Fairgrounds will host the Summer Break party this Friday night. The event, aimed at the municipality's youth, will start at 10:00 PM and run until 5:00 AM, featuring several DJs and special effects.
On Saturday, the ‘Las Huertas’ Fairgrounds will host the tenth edition of the Antonio Albacete Memorial, an event dedicated to historic vehicles. Organized by Car Club Tiempos Clásicos and the Department of Sports, the day will include exhibitions of classic cars and motorcycles, a dedicated Mini vehicle area, a space for racing vehicles, and a radio-controlled circuit, alongside autograph sessions and live music.
Seafood lovers have a final opportunity to enjoy the Seafood Fair this Sunday at the Plaza de Toros Esplanade. The fair will offer Galician products in two time slots: from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 10:30 PM.
The cultural and leisure offerings are rounded out by an Artisan Market in El Mirador Park on Saturday, featuring fifteen local artisans showcasing their creations. At the same park, Cáritas will hold its Interparish Day with family-friendly activities. The Pablo Neruda Cultural Center will host a bolero concert on Saturday evening, and the Plaza de Toros esplanade will be the venue for the First Knitting Gathering.
The weekend's sports agenda includes skating and rhythmic gymnastics exhibitions on Friday, followed by end-of-course events for football and basketball, a charity Zumba masterclass, and a judo exhibition on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, the Neighborhood Flea Market will take place on Sunday at the El Vivero Park parking lot for exchanging second-hand items. Municipal libraries will offer reading and illustration workshops, and host literary exhibitions.
Until the end of June, the Pablo Neruda Cultural Center presents the exhibition ‘Entornos’ in the Picasso Hall and Lobby, while the Javier Villán Hall hosts the exhibition from the Colmenar Viejo Antique Photography Contest.
