This initiative, driven by the Department of Social Policy and the Volunteer Information Point (PIV), seeks to transform the current model to be more agile, digital, and responsive to new citizen demands. A working meeting with local organizations was recently held under the motto ‘Stop Being Islands to Become a Network’.
During the session, various entities such as Cruz Roja, ASPRODICO, Envera, Amigos del Pueblo Saharaui, Manos Unidas, Cáritas, and ColmeTea participated in dynamic activities to diagnose the state of volunteering in Colmenar Viejo. The primary goal was to identify both the strengths and challenges facing the social sector in the locality.
“"The intention is to move towards a collaborative model where entities act jointly. The aim is for any resident interested in collaborating to find easy and updated access to participate in solidarity initiatives."
The modernization process of the Volunteer Information Point includes several strategic lines. Among these, the promotion of micro and mini volunteering stands out, involving short-duration and flexible actions, ideal for individuals with limited time, technical profiles, or minors. Digitalization is also a priority, with the update of the PIV website and an active social media strategy to increase visibility and attract young people.
Furthermore, a training and legal framework will be established, offering continuous advice on legal and training matters, along with incorporation agreements that ensure the safety of both volunteers and organizations. This model aims to optimize resources and foster synergies among entities, providing a more coordinated response to the social needs of the municipality.
