Colmenar Viejo is preparing for the 26th edition of its street theater festival 'Saltimbanqui', which will transform Saturday afternoons in May at El Mirador Park with a varied program of free family shows.

The municipality of Colmenar Viejo is bringing back one of its most emblematic cultural events with the return of the 'Saltimbanqui' street theater festival. Every weekend in May, at 8:00 PM, El Mirador Park will be the stage for a series of free performances designed for the enjoyment of families and neighbors, consolidating over a quarter-century of history in outdoor performing arts.

"The 26th 'Saltimbanqui' Street Theater Festival is here. During the month of May, we will be able to enjoy the best family performances to spend Saturday afternoons in 'El Mirador' Park, one of the most well-known and frequented spaces in our municipality."

Enrique Navarro Hermosilla · Councillor for Family, Seniors, Youth, and Children
The program will kick off on Saturday, May 9, coinciding with the celebration of Family Day. The company Mundo Costrini will break the ice with 'Les frikis', a clown show that promises laughter from the very first minute. The play features a peculiar pair of comedians, where the talented but chaotic artist and her meticulous partner try to keep the show going despite constant mishaps.
On Saturday, May 16, the festival will be part of 'Cirqueando', the Sierra de Madrid Circus Festival, featuring a performance by Circo Psikario and their work '¡Qué disparate!'. This clown piece invites reflection on life's journey, showing two workers who, while trying to set up a fairground attraction, discover the importance of enjoying every step of the way.
On May 23, the festival will shift slightly to address a significant social issue through street theater. The company La Baldufa brings 'Safari', a play recommended for ages 3 and up that transports us to the African savanna. The story follows researchers Pinyot and Carabassot in their search for a lion who has lost his roar. Through their encounters with other animals, the play becomes a tool for reflecting on bullying.
The closing of this 26th edition will take place on Saturday, May 30 with 'Carman' by Javier Ariza. This street comedy show features an iconic Seat 600, which comes to life in the hands of a showman combining music and circus techniques. The performance promises a surreal journey where the vehicle appears to drive itself, seeking audience engagement and providing a perfect finale to a month dedicated to creativity and culture in Colmenar Viejo.
