The tenth edition of the Pastoral Days reaffirms Colmenar Viejo's commitment to its livestock roots. Saturday's events will begin with the transhumance of a goat herd, departing at 10:00 AM from the Dehesa de Navalvillar, also known as San Pedro-La Mueda, with an estimated arrival at the Plaza de Toros around 12:30 PM. The animals will remain there, allowing residents and visitors to observe this traditional practice up close.
Concurrently, the esplanade of the Plaza de Toros will host the Artisan Cheese Fair between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM. This event will bring together twenty producers from various autonomous communities such as Madrid, Cantabria, Extremadura, Asturias, Castilla-La Mancha, and Castilla y León. The fair will feature traditional wooden games and creative wool workshops, organized by the IAIA Association, available both morning and afternoon. At 1:00 PM, a free tasting of shepherd's migas will be offered, and a DJ will provide music throughout the day.
El Mirador Park will be the venue for Children's Day, held on Saturday morning from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Organized by the Casa de la Juventud, this family-oriented initiative offers a circuit with challenges and fairground games like giant bowling or tin can alley, obstacle races, giant games, an inflatable kart track, storytelling, and a raffle. There will also be an artisan fair by ASARCO. All activities are free, and participants can exchange points for prizes.
The cultural offerings include a performance of Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly at the Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, April 11th, at 8:00 PM. The Camerata Lírica de España, directed by Rodolfo Albero, will perform this 120-minute work. Tickets are priced at 12 euros for stalls and 9 euros for the tribune. Additionally, the Casa de la Juventud will host the play Primera vez by the Junior company at 7:00 PM, as part of the 2026 Youth Theater Showcase, with free admission until capacity is reached.
