The Algete City Council has extended the deadline for residents to submit their proposals for the 2026 Patron Saint Festival announcement poster until July 20th.

Residents wishing to submit their proposal for the 2026 Algete Patron Saint Festival poster now have until Monday, July 20th, at 10 PM to do so. The initial deadline, which was June 8th, has been extended to encourage greater participation in this contest, processed under expediente 4180/2026.
The organization's objective is to select the design that will welcome the celebrations taking place in September. All individuals over 18 years of age can participate, either individually or representing associations or entities registered with the Municipal Association Registry. Each participant may only submit one proposal, and participation implies acceptance of all contest rules.
The poster's theme is open but must be related to the September patron saint festivals and be an original design. It is recommended not to include text unless it is essential to the design, in which case it should be an independent layer. There are no restrictions on the artistic technique to be used.
A fundamental condition of the contest is the prohibition of using artificial intelligence tools for poster creation. Participants must sign a sworn statement confirming they have not used these applications. Disseminating the poster on social media or other platforms before the jury's decision is also prohibited, as it will lead to automatic exclusion.
Original works must measure 70 centimeters in height by 50 centimeters in width, or a larger size maintaining the same proportion.
Submissions are to be made at the municipal Registry Office. For physical submissions, the poster must be protected, and the back should indicate the author's name or a pseudonym, with personal details submitted separately. A CD or USB drive with the original file, at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and separated layers, is mandatory. Those opting for digital submission with an electronic signature can send their proposal through the municipal Electronic Headquarters, also emailing the file in PSD or TIFF format with separated layers to cultura@aytoalgete.com.
The jury will consist of representatives from local brotherhoods and associations, along with the municipal archivist, and will have a secretary. Poster evaluations will consider traditional and representative aspects of Algete, originality, technique, and aesthetic result. The jury's decision will be final and they may declare the prize void. The jury's proposal must be approved by the Local Government Board.
The contest offers a single first prize of 587 euros, subject to a 19% IRPF withholding, resulting in a net prize of 475 euros. The winner must present a certificate confirming no outstanding debts with the municipality before receiving the prize. The rights to the winning poster and its publication will become municipal property, with the possibility of adjusting its dimensions or color for printing needs. Unclaimed non-winning posters will be destroyed two months after the jury's decision.
