The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has announced the construction of a data center campus in Alcobendas with an investment exceeding €1 billion and a capacity of over 100 megawatts (MW).

This project, driven by the company Ferrovial, solidifies the Community of Madrid as Spain's leader in high-tech companies and data centers, and positions it as the second European region with the most professionals in this sector. The announcement was made during a press briefing.
The future technological complex in Alcobendas already has favorable reports regarding urban planning, digital strategy, and energy transition. Furthermore, it has obtained the land movement license, allowing for the immediate commencement of construction work.
The first phase of the campus, which aims to reach 60 MW of power and create about fifty permanent direct jobs, has been declared a Project of Special Interest by the regional Investment Accelerator. This entity facilitates the streamlining and administrative coordination of large infrastructures.
Since its establishment in 2023, the Accelerator has declared 17 Projects of Special Interest, totaling a global investment of nearly €9 billion and the creation of over 5,000 jobs. Of these, eleven are data processing centers, four are in the biopharmaceutical field, one is for renewable energy, and another for logistics. Currently, four additional initiatives are under evaluation.
