The Alcobendas City Council, through the Casa de la Mujer (House of Women), presents a new edition of its Motherhood Program this June. This initiative is designed to offer support and training to pregnant women and mothers with babies up to 24 months old. The program includes a variety of free workshops focusing on key aspects of pregnancy, parenting, child development, and emotional well-being. Interested families have the flexibility to participate in one or several activities, adapting to their specific needs and interests.
To facilitate attendance, many sessions will offer childcare services, which must be requested in advance during the registration process. The program aims to cover various areas of interest for new families.
The training offer began on June 8th with an introductory workshop on Baby Led Weaning (BLW), a complementary feeding methodology that promotes infant autonomy. This workshop addressed safety, appropriate foods, and guidelines for starting this form of nutrition. Subsequently, on June 15th, the session 'Neuroscience: The Growing Brain with Love' took place, focusing on infant brain development and the influence of emotional bonding and the environment on cognitive and emotional development.
Regarding physical activity, on June 12th, a workshop on pilates adapted for pregnancy was held, aimed at strengthening the body and alleviating gestational discomfort. On June 19th, a postpartum pilates session was conducted, designed to improve posture, strengthen muscles, and work the pelvic floor. Both activities required participants to bring a mat and cushion.
Emergency training is another pillar of the program. On June 17th, in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, a workshop on first aid for babies and children was organized. This session combined theory and practice to teach how to act in common childhood emergency situations, and it was specified that attendees should come without babies or minors.
Emotional support also has its space. On June 24th, the workshop 'The Process of Growing Through Touch' was held, addressing family changes after a baby's arrival and the importance of early socialization. The series concluded on June 29th with 'Mindfulness for Conscious Motherhood', offering tools for stress management and relaxation through practical mindfulness exercises.
Registration for these activities remains open, allowing interested individuals to attend individual sessions or complete multiple program offerings according to their preferences.
