More than 4,000 students from 24 educational centers in Alcobendas will gather at the José Caballero Municipal Sports Center from April 20 to 23 for the II School Olympics, an event promoting grassroots sports and coexistence.

The city of Alcobendas is preparing for a new edition of its School Olympics, an event that will bring together thousands of young athletes. This year, the competition will run from April 20 to 23, transforming the José Caballero Municipal Sports Center into the epicenter of local youth sports. The initiative, which has already established itself as a benchmark for families and the educational community, underscores the town's commitment to the values of effort and camaraderie.
In this second edition, the organization has extended the calendar to four full days, allowing for greater participation from the 24 registered educational centers. This decision responds to the great enthusiasm and high demand observed in the previous edition, ensuring that more students can enjoy this formative and competitive experience. The city, recently awarded as European City of Sport 2025, thus reaffirms its leadership in sports promotion.
The sports offering is diverse, with a total of 17 modalities ranging from traditional team sports to individual disciplines. Among the collective sports, basketball, handball, 7-a-side football, volleyball, and flag football stand out. For individual challenges, the program includes athletics, chess, fencing, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, karate, swimming, figure skating, taekwondo, and table tennis. The incorporation of tennis as a new modality is one of this year's major novelties, enriching an already comprehensive sports proposal.
Beyond the competition, the main objective of the II School Olympics is to foster healthy lifestyles and use sport as a tool for social cohesion. By bringing together students from different parts of the city, the aim is to strengthen ties between educational centers, creating a space where respect and camaraderie prevail over rivalry. A vibrant atmosphere is expected, with the influx of families and teachers, similar to that of major professional events.
