Alcobendas honors 350 athletes at its first Sports Awards

The gala recognized the effort and achievements of teams and athletes in regional competitions and local leagues.

Alcobendas recognized the careers of 350 athletes and over 60 teams at the first Sports Awards ceremony, held at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas.

The city of Alcobendas has celebrated the inaugural edition of its Sports Awards, an event that took place at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas. During the ceremony, more than 60 teams and a total of 350 athletes were honored for their results and achievements in various regional and local competitions.
The mayor, Rocío García Alcántara, along with the Councilor for Sports, Jesús Tortosa, presided over the event. In her speech, the mayor highlighted the importance of local athletes, stating they are "a source of pride for Alcobendas and the reason we are the Best European City of Sport 2025".
These new regional awards, convened for the first time by the Alcobendas City Council, aim to honor effort, dedication, and sporting successes. A total of 115 individual awards and 32 collective recognitions were presented, reflecting broad participation across various disciplines.
The distinctions covered 21 sports categories, including climbing, rugby, water polo, swimming, cyclocross, fencing, equestrian, volleyball, basketball, hockey, Olympic shooting, and athletics, among others. These awards acknowledge the achievements of athletes and teams in regional competitions throughout the season.
The ceremony also included the presentation of awards for the Local Leagues in football, futsal, basketball, and handball, thereby recognizing participation and achievements in the municipal sports arena.
The event concluded with a raffle of bicycles among the attendees at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas.
