Alcobendas Celebrates Sporting Talent in Historic Gala

The city of Alcobendas has honored more than three hundred and fifty athletes and sixty teams in an unprecedented gala, held at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas.

In an event that underscores the daily effort and dedication of local athletes, Alcobendas has celebrated its first Sports Awards. This pioneering initiative by the Alcobendas City Council aims to acknowledge competitors participating in regional categories, publicly recognizing their successes and tireless work.
The gala, held at the Teatro Auditorio Ciudad de Alcobendas, presented 115 individual awards and 32 team accolades, spanning 21 sports categories. Disciplines such as climbing, rugby, water polo, swimming, cycling, fencing, equestrian, volleyball, basketball, hockey, Olympic shooting, and athletics were represented, showcasing the municipality's diverse and rich sporting landscape.

The mayor, Rocío García Alcántara, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Jesús Tortosa, emphasized the human and social dimension of the athletes, calling them "a pride for Alcobendas" and the reason the city will hold the title of Best European City of Sport 2025. This European recognition implies a collective commitment to promoting physical activity and well-being.
In addition to the regional awards, the ceremony honored the Local Leagues in football, futsal, basketball, and handball. These awards recognize the consistency of thousands of residents who participate weekly, fostering social cohesion, camaraderie, and an active lifestyle in the city.
The event concluded with a bicycle raffle among attendees, symbolizing the council's philosophy of promoting sustainable mobility and physical exercise as an essential part of daily life for Alcobendas families.
