The municipality of Fresno de Torote is preparing to host the second edition of the Princess of Éboli Awards on June 5th. This annual event aims to distinguish the work of individuals, groups, and institutions contributing to the social, cultural, and human progress of the locality.

In this edition, the City Council will award the 'Pueblos con Vida' program from the Community of Madrid for its outstanding contribution to local development and the improvement of quality of life in Madrid's municipalities through aid and territorial development projects.

The ceremony, to be held from 7:00 PM in the Patio de Armas of the Town Hall, will also be the venue where Fresno de Torote and Alcalá de Henares will formalize their institutional twinning. This historical bond is based on the influence of the Mendoza lineage in both cities.

The mayoress of Alcalá de Henares and president of the Madrid Federation of Municipalities, Judith Piquet, will receive a special recognition for her "tireless work in defense of the interests of Madrid's municipalities".

Other awardees this year include the fan clubs of Fresno de Torote in the Citizen Participation category, the Municipal Basketball School in Sports, the Club Arqueros del Torote for its 'Arrows against breast cancer' initiative in Social Action, and the News Services of Telemadrid in Communication for their dissemination efforts.

The Princess of Éboli Awards, established in 2025, honor the values of Ana de Mendoza de la Cerda, a prominent figure of the Spanish Golden Age, whose connection to Fresno de Torote dates back to the 16th century.
