El Molar's Plaza Mayor is set to host the traditional La Maya festival on May 1st, an event that blends folk music, floral altars, and local produce to celebrate the municipality's heritage.

This celebration, recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest and a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest, is a key date on the local calendar. Starting at 11:00 AM, the square will be filled with spring aromas and ancient sounds, offering a reunion with the traditions that have shaped El Molar's identity.
The event highlights the presentation of the 'mayas' and their altars, meticulously decorated spaces adorned with wildflowers. The young women of the town, dressed in white and crowned with flowers, symbolize spring and fertility, surrounded by their bridesmaids in a scene reminiscent of an old painting.

"The essence of this event lies in its ability to stop time. For a few hours, modernity gives way to traditional costumes and a staging that meticulously cares for every detail."

Folk music will be provided by the group Arrabel, who will perform the traditional «Canto del Mayo», a melody once used to serenade young women and now celebrating life and the rebirth of nature. Following the main events in the square, a street parade, with the collaboration of the dance group Taral, will bring traditional songs and dances through the municipality's streets.
To conclude the day, there will be a tasting of El Molar wine and typical sweets. This initiative aims to foster coexistence and participation, highlighting the cultural heritage and popular traditions of the municipality, and a large turnout is expected.
