The Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Interior of the Community of Madrid, Carlos Novillo, inaugurated the second morning session of the III Madrid Investment Forum, held in Tres Cantos. During his speech, Novillo emphasized the role of technology in ensuring citizen safety and announced the modification of the Forest and Nature Protection Law.
This initiative, promoted by the regional executive and previously announced by President Díaz Ayuso during the State of the Region debate, aims to strengthen the prevention and response to forest fires.
Novillo explained that, given that "more than 50% of the region's territory is forest land," the regulatory modification seeks to adapt the law to "new environmental, economic, and social challenges." The new regulations will enhance forest planning, fire prevention, and simplify administrative procedures for more agile action in natural environments, especially during urgent interventions.
