The Community of Madrid has announced that it will assess and certify the English level of more than 71,000 students in 6th grade of Primary Education and 4th grade of Secondary Education during the 2026/27 school year.

The Governing Council has approved a budget of 8.5 million euros to conduct these tests. The initiative will be implemented in the more than 850 publicly funded schools participating in the region's Bilingual Program.
The results obtained will serve as the basis for a comprehensive study on the progress of bilingual Spanish-English education. This analysis will focus on Madrid's schools and institutes, as well as student performance and the educational system overall. The evaluation of this study will be carried out by an independent entity, ensuring criteria of objectivity and transparency.
The exams will take place before the end of the current school year. Exact dates will be communicated to students in advance. The selection of entities responsible for organizing the tests will be based on compliance with various quality criteria, thus ensuring the proper development of the process.
