Madrid dons its sports attire this Saturday with a double day of free activities aimed at promoting participation and well-being.

El Retiro Park will be the epicenter of the Olympic and Paralympic Sports Day, with two time slots: from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00. This event will feature around thirty spaces dedicated to the practice and exhibition of various disciplines, including a specific zone for Paralympic sports.
Attendees will have the chance to try sports such as football, basketball, pickleball, ground golf, table tennis, boccia, handbike cycling, wheelchair basketball, blind football, and wheelchair tennis. Additionally, activities focused on self-protection and sports health will be available.
In the evening, the Night of Sport will take over under the slogan ‘Sport keeps us awake’. Plaza de España will serve as the main venue, with activities also extending to Plaza de Oriente and Puerta de Alcalá. This event, organized by the City Council in collaboration with the Marca publishing group, will offer five hours of action with over twenty sports disciplines.
Among the highlighted disciplines at the Night of Sport are football, 3x3 basketball, cycling, pickleball, fencing, golf, table tennis, chess, darts, skate, BMX, skating, urban dance, and cardiovascular exercise sessions. A video game and simulator zone will also be featured.

"If for any child doing sports is very important because it helps them stay healthy and fit, for a child with a disability, it is much more so."

Alberto Durán · President of the Spanish Paralympic Committee
Alberto Durán, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee, emphasized the importance of sports for everyone, especially for children with disabilities. During the official presentation at the Palacio de Cibeles, alongside the mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Sports Councilor Sonia Cea, and Director of Sports for the Spanish Olympic Committee, Ricardo Leiva, Durán pointed out the gap between general federative licenses (8%) and Paralympic ones (0.5%).
For his part, Mayor Martínez-Almeida encouraged Madrileños to enjoy this sporting 'super Saturday', reaffirming the capital's status as «one of the five best cities in the world» for sports practice.
