This event, which aims to go beyond the traditional Book Day celebration, will bring together 300 authors, 130 bookstores, and 120 libraries to bring literature to every corner of the region, from the capital to the smallest towns.
The initiative was officially presented by the regional Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, at the Antonio Machado bookstore. The main goal is to acknowledge the efforts of all professionals who make it possible for books to reach readers, from writers and editors to librarians and booksellers.
“"This festival is born as a recognition of all professionals linked to the world of books, from authors and editors to librarians and booksellers, without forgetting the readers."
Under the evocative theme «The confines of books», LIBROMAD invites reflection on how reading extends beyond pages, influencing identity and understanding of the environment. The program includes workshops, exhibitions, and collective readings, designed to boost the publishing sector and encourage reading habits across all age groups.
Although activities will be spread across a hundred locations, the festival's highlight will be on Sunday, April 26th, in Madrid's Plaza de España. Between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, this emblematic space will host an open day featuring a collective reading, a popular hot chocolate event, and a literary discussion titled «Reading to Re-enchant the World».
The event will also feature live music, including performances by the Billy Boom Band, Celeste Baker (the literary project of Russian Red), and Alberto & García, who will close the festival. Additionally, a small book fair will be set up with stalls from various bookstores, offering new releases, author signings, and special discounts, along with a food and drink area.
For younger audiences, the Factoría Teatro company will organize activities between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Sunday, including storytelling, theatrical performances, and a literary scavenger hunt. The aim is to spark children's curiosity for reading, presenting it as a fun and exciting activity.
