The Community of Madrid has approved an investment of 1.3 million euros in direct aid for the collection and transport of domestic waste, primarily benefiting local entities with smaller populations.

These subsidies aim to cover the costs associated with the removal and transport of household waste, facilitating the service for municipalities in the region.
The call for applications is structured into two modalities. The first, for the 2026 fiscal year, is designed for towns with up to 2,500 inhabitants that provide the service jointly through a consortium or cannot be integrated into one. The second modality, starting from 2027, will finance the joint organization of waste collection and transport through General Interest Consortiums, grouping municipalities of up to 20,000 residents.
Aid will be granted based on individual evaluation of each application, until the budget is exhausted. The amount will be calculated according to the municipal register, potentially covering 100% of eligible expenses in municipalities with fewer than 1,000 inhabitants (with a maximum of 90 euros per resident per year) and up to 70% in those with a population between 1,001 and 2,500 inhabitants. Costs exceeding these limits will be borne by the local entities.
