Contemporánea Condeduque, a venue managed by the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, has scheduled a series of activities for October spanning contemporary performing arts: ‘Theater and Dance’, ‘Music’, and ‘Science + Art’. These disciplines will be complemented by ‘Thought and Literature’, ‘Mediation’, and other offerings for all audiences.
In the ‘Theater and Dance’ section, Madrid will see the premieres of The Dog Days Are Over 2.0 (October 2 and 3), A Place To Dance, by Poliana Lima and Yinka Esi Graves (October 15, 16, and 17), and Unarmoured, by Clara Furey (October 28 and 29). Additionally, Petróleo (October 21 and 22) and Parlamento (October 23 and 25) by the company Piel de lava will be presented.
The ‘Music’ program includes concerts such as Trilogía flamenca by Pablo Martín Caminero (October 1 and 2); Korean shamanic music by ADG7 (Ak Dan Gwang Chil) (October 4); 163 centímetros by Abraham Boba, based on his book of the same title (October 8); Un final que parece un principio by Gala i Ovidio (October 9); and as part of the Soundset Festival of electronic music, performances by Carmen Villain + More Eaze (October 16) and Dj Plead (October 30).
The ‘Science + Art’ segment will host the encounter ‘Frankenstein’s Creature’, featuring Mexican biologist Antonio Lazcano, who specializes in evolutionary biology and the origin of life.
Under the ‘Thought + Literature’ heading, the dialogue ‘Cuestión de piel’ (Skin Matter) will explore affinities, rejections, and attractions. Participants include educator, philosopher, and dance researcher Marie Bardet; sociologist Pablo Cerezo; publisher, bookseller, and writer, Noelia Romero; and writer and philosophy professor, Juan Evaristo Valls Boix.
Within the ‘Screens + Expanded Culture’ axis, the encounter ‘The latest trends in experimentation on social networks, museums, bookstores, music, and various laboratories’ will be programmed, featuring Frankie Pizá, Maximiliano Tomás (director of Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires), Fernando Cuchietti (director of the Creative Intelligence Lab at BSC-CNS), and María Brancós (Head of Exhibitions at Espacio Fundación Telefónica).
In the ‘Mediation’ area, POM Condeduque, a versatile space transformed into a 21st-century ballroom, will continue to serve as a meeting point for young people. This project combines dance and mediation to support young individuals in their professionalization within the dance world.
Young audiences can also enjoy the ‘Reading Clubs’. For children and youth, there's ‘Comics, Illustrated Albums, and Non-Fiction Board Games’, a monthly reading club led by writer and journalist Sofía Caruncho, which addresses current affairs and cultural history through various works. Additionally, once a month, the ‘Graphic Essays’ reading club, with Javier Olivares, will analyze notable works of graphic essays and comic journalism. The session on October 23 will focus on Grass by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim.
