The Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque in Madrid will host a conversation between philosopher Yuk Hui and journalist Marta Peirano on Tuesday, April 28, addressing the impact of technology on contemporary society.

The Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque, under the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport, will open its doors on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 PM for an event titled 'Us and Machines: A Conversation with Yuk Hui'. This meeting, part of the 'Thought and Literature' program, will feature the participation of journalist, writer, and researcher Marta Peirano.
Yuk Hui's work focuses on how digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence transform our understanding of time, reality, and existence. In his writings, he develops the concept of 'cosmotechnics,' a proposal that challenges the notion of universal technology and promotes understanding it from multiple cultural perspectives.

"He advocates for a "technodiversity that allows us to rethink it from different angles with the purpose of addressing the current planetary condition."

Yuk Hui's presence in Madrid offers an opportunity to reflect on the future from a global perspective, reviewing traditional concepts such as progress, modernity, humanity, nature, and machine. Condeduque envisions this meeting as a space to reconsider our relationship with technology from a philosophical viewpoint, exploring how technological developments influence our understanding of contemporary reality.
Yuk Hui holds a PhD in Philosophy from Goldsmiths College, London, and is a Professor of Philosophy at Erasmus University Rotterdam, where he holds the Chair of Human Conditions. He is also a jury member for the Berggruen Prize for Philosophy and Culture and founder of the Research Network for Philosophy and Technology. His works translated into Spanish include Fragmentar el futuro (Caja Negra, 2020), Recursividad y contingencia (Caja Negra, 2022), Sobre la existencia de los objetos digitales (Materia Oscura, 2023), La pregunta por la técnica en China (Caja Negra, 2024), and Arte y cosmotécnica (Caja Negra, 2025), with a new title scheduled for 2026.
