This inaugural competition seeks to highlight the efforts of those working for the development of these localities, whether they are public administrations or individual citizens. The main objective is to showcase projects that make life in a small town attractive and sustainable.
Participation is open to both public entities and private individuals. In the public category, town councils, local entities, organizations, and consortia can register. The private category is open to any individual, including freelancers, companies, families, associations, or non-profit organizations.
The competition features eight categories, four for each modality, covering various areas. For the public modality, projects in Cultural Activity, Youth Activity, Commitment to Tradition and Innovation, and Economic Transformation will be recognized. In the private modality, the categories are Young, Family, Tourism Initiative, and Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development.
The deadline for submitting applications is from May 6 to June 4. Registrations are made through the electronic headquarters of the Community of Madrid, and the complete rules can be consulted in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (BOCM). Winners in each category will receive a commemorative statuette and a basket of regional products, with an awards ceremony scheduled for late 2026 at the Real Casa de Correos.
“"Beyond the award itself, the competition offers something that many rural projects find difficult to achieve: visibility and official recognition for work that, in many cases, is done with limited resources and great effort."
